Slurry actually refers to a mixture of water or other types of liquids and some solids that are insoluble in liquids. The type, size, shape and content of the solids in the slurry determine the physical properties and flow characteristics of the slurry. In engineering, the following main characteristic parameters are required to accurately describe a type of slurry. Secondly, the characteristics and classification of slurry should be mastered. In industrial applications, slurries are divided into different types according to their characteristics.
Slurries are roughly divided into two types: uniform slurries and non-uniform slurries.
(1) The particles of solid matter in uniform slurries are very fine, so fine that no sediment will be produced when the slurry is in a static state. However, as the concentration changes, the macroscopic viscosity of the slurry will change. Therefore, when selecting slurries, we must pay close attention to this characteristic of uniform slurries.
(2) Non-uniform slurries are the opposite of uniform slurries. The solid particles in non-uniform slurries are larger. In a static state, the slurry will produce obvious sediments, and the coarser particles will increase the abrasiveness of the slurry. In our industrial production, most of the slurries we encounter are non-uniform slurries.
From a physical point of view, a slurry pump is a type of centrifugal pump. It is a device that generates centrifugal force through the rotation of the pump impeller to increase the energy of the mixed medium of liquid water and solid particles. A slurry pump is a pump machine used to transport slurry with highly corrosive, non-uniform particles and high proportion of slurry. This is also essentially different from ordinary clean water pumps. The slurry pumps we see in industrial production are one of the pump products that convey slurry.
Slurry pumps are mainly used to supply flushing fluids in geological, geothermal, water source, shallow oil, coalbed methane and other drilling. The medium can be mud, clean water, etc., and it can also be used as a delivery pump for the above media. Its characteristics are:
1. Simple structure, easy operation and maintenance, reliable operation performance;
2. Small size, light weight, the power and working device are installed on the same base for easy transportation and installation.
Slurry pumps are an important part of drilling equipment. Different regions, different habits, and different pump types have different names. Slurry pumps are just a popular concept of a relatively broad pump. In some regions, sewage pumps, slurry pumps and other non-clean water pumps and slurry pumps are also commonly called. Slurry pump units are commonly known as hydraulic pond digging units. In production practice, they rely on several combinations to achieve different construction requirements.
1. Application of power distribution system: The operation of slurry pumps, especially slurry pumps above 22kw, must be achieved through the step-down function of the autotransformer. At the same time, the AC contactor, time relay, air switch and other functions in the power distribution system ensure the normal construction circuit. Sometimes, leakage protection function needs to be set.
2. Relay conveying system: The medium of the slurry pump is delivered to the designated area through a special mud delivery hose. But sometimes this function cannot be achieved, so it has to be completed through the relay conveying system of several slurry pumps. In production practice, it is more appropriate to set up a relay every 500m for a 15kw slurry pump and a relay every 1000m for a 22kw slurry pump.
3. Joint operation of high-pressure pump and slurry pump: This is the most common construction method. First, the medium is diluted into a certain concentration of mud by the hydraulic flushing effect of the high-pressure pump. Then it is discharged to the designated area through the suction and delivery of the slurry pump. The water source is generally within 300m.
4. Personnel configuration combination: The construction personnel configuration combination of the slurry pump unit is very important. The manpower should be arranged according to the construction conditions, working conditions and progress. In production practice, two-shift system or three-shift system of four to six is commonly used. If special construction such as filling, sea reclamation and underwater operation is used, additional manpower is required and the arrangement is ingenious.
